This is one of my favorite dog renderings. I was contacted by a Newfie organization for a donation. The woman who helps run the organization sent me numerous photographs of various Newfoundlands dogs and as it turns out, I chose her dog for the portrait! He was a chocolate Newfoundland which is why his nose is lighter than you would expect for a dog drawing. I also tried out a different brand of graphite pencil which I ended up liking very much. I like the tonal range I was able to bring out in this drawing.
