Soft Days...

These are the days I love here on Little Mountain ridge which is nestled in the middle Appalachian Mountain Range.

“I don’t ask for the meaning of the song of a bird or the rising of the sun on a misty morning. There they are, and they are beautiful.”~ Pete Hamill

There is something mysterious and comforting about this landscape I live in.
“Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term art, I should call it "the Reproduction of what the senses perceive in nature through the veil of the mist”~ Edgar Allan Poe

Living here evokes feelings of a peaceful happiness, comfort, and a strange connection to my ancestors who survived these mountains long ago.

"Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter."~ Carol Bishop Hipps

"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire:  it is the time for home."
-  Edith Sitwell

"How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow."
-   Elsie N. Brady, Leaves

If there is life after death, I will happily wander this land for eternity.  ...Where could there be a more perfect heaven?
